WE BELIEVE IN A HOLISTIC APPROACH
Welcome to our urban sanctuary. A warm, inviting yoga studio nestled in the banks of the Yarra River and surrounded by nature, located on the border of Abbotsford and Richmond. Here you will find a community space, dedicated to an authentic and integrated practice of classical yoga.
We offer a range of transformational workshops and experiences to expand your wellbeing with wisdom, joy, inspiration. The Open Space is a healing space where you will find body work therapies such as Massage, as well as Clinical Psychology and group work.
We believe in the uplifting power of music on body, mind and spirit. Vital to our blissful offerings are Kirtan nights, resonant sound healing sessions, and regular sacred music events.

Kirtan
At The Open Space one of our primary loves is the practice of kirtan - a call and response form of singing/ chanting - no experience is necessary. Kirtan is a form of Bhakti (devotional) yoga and we offer a Saturday night event - check our event page for upcoming dates. All kirtan sessions are by donation, please register for catering and organisational purposes.

Music and Sound
We host some of Australia’s best known sacred music performers as well as uniquely curated events. These evenings are great opportunities to join our community in uplifting embodiment.
-

Meditation
Meditation is offered as an integrated part of yoga classes and as standalone classes and workshops. We are committed to making this practice available to all and offer a free community meditation class every Saturday morning.
-

Improvisation and Dance
The Open Space surrounds were created with dance in mind. We want you to come and let go in both ecstatic dance experience and improvisation. We will be inviting guest DJs and improvisational facilitators to come in and get us into the flow of joyous free movement.

Sound Healing
Sound healing is an ancient practice throughout all wisdom traditions based upon the resonance of our bodies and their sensitivity to sound. It creates a deep relaxation state where the body healing can take place through the realignment of our deepest somatic experience.
-

Massage and Body Therapy
At The Open Space, a holistic approach to health is of primary importance. Massage therapy can not only smooth the body from aches and pains but is also a way of working on emotional release via the somatic experience.
-

Psychotherapy and Group Work
The founders of The Open Space (Michael and Karen) are both Clinical Psychologists with many years of experience in working with individuals, couples and groups. Combining training in yoga and somatic work, the mind-body connection is now at the forefront of their practice.
